In recent years, the Republic of Moldova has made significant progress in the field of education, particularly in the inclusion of children with disabilities in mainstream education. As a result, the number of children with special educational needs (SEN) enrolled in schools has grown substantially.

The aim of this study is to assess the dynamics of educational inclusion for children with SEN by analyzing relevant policies, evaluating public perceptions of inclusive education, and identifying best practices in assessing educational outcomes.

The study highlights the attitudes and opinions of teachers, caregivers, and students regarding the inclusion of children with disabilities in the educational process. Key indicators from the research have been compared with those from similar studies conducted in 2009, 2012, and 2018 to track developments over time.

To maximize the impact of its findings, the study’s conclusions and recommendations will be used to disseminate good practices and address existing gaps in inclusive education.

Additionally, the results of the study will contribute to the process of developing and refining policies in this field.

The study „Inclusion of children with special educational needs in the education system” was conducted by UNICEF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Research, under the framework of the “Digital innovations of the educational system in the Republic of Moldova” Programme, funded by the Global Partnership for Education.
